Our Love Affairs with Fruit Trees

Rambutan and durians?  Couple of places, Rifle Range Rd not sure still accessible, Stephen Rd off Mandai Rd still has durian trees but quite well known so many visitors who stayed there before,  opposite Tengah Airbase Officer Mess along Chua Chu Kang Rd again frequented

Chin Kong

Anyone knows of location of wild rambutan and durian trees that have fruit?
Sagoff, Upper Thomson? Still fruiting? can try an outing after Circuit Breaker?
Dunno whether in season. Some people tell me it's near the Mandai area. Secret location that few know.

During recess in my primary school, the boys played police an thief. The thiefs caught were held up near the tree. You could rescue them if you touch the chains of hands of them then they will escape.

The village boys were innovative.... many games- marbles, hentam bola, chatek, kuti kuti , spider fighting. Sports Day , of course most eventful. The village boys would want to excel. I was kicked on the shin by a village boy before the heats of a race. Remembered I enter the 200m Finals. Managed a 6th position. Not too bad for a nerd and the smartest boy in my village school.

Behind American School in Woodlands. Stephen Road. Military Training Area. My neighbour is a seasoned durian picker.  Can make an order if serious. Can give you his contact. Apparently , the police do not catch them. Now the season , just started. Should be able to get Musang King quite cheaply. Big harvest from Penang looking for buyers during MCO and CB.

The best thing about living in kampung were the fruit trees. Alone in my kampong house were papayas, pomegranate, jackfruit. My neighbor had chiku and his neighbor had mangoes. I even remember a neighbor harvesting bamboo shoots.
Sagoff, I always thought difficult to grow tomato. Don't see some of these local fruits eg rambutans in supermarket. Some fruit stalls don't even carry them.

My house plant jack fruit tree which give us beside the fruit, also the leafy that cover the fruit that we used to make curry as well as the seed which can be cook and eaten.
Our Malay neighbours do not have fence so we walk pass to go to kindergarten in Lengkong Tiga or market which is next to Kembangan Plaza where our Dr Aziz has his clinic.

Sagoff

My house had mango, rambutan, guava, papaya, sour sop. At one time my mother planted tomato. Of course we had chicken.
Chin Kong, on rambutan and durian, Upper Thomson. But there were villages in the area before. Is it in season now (May 2020) in Singapore?
